The story

Late November takes on the colours of pearl and pale blue. The boats remain at their moorings, their ropes tracing shallow curves above the water. Small ripples gently break the reflected hulls, but the distant mast holds its slender line. Between one boat and the next, there is room for the eye to linger without reaching shore.
