The story

Late November finds the boats held close to their mooring posts, their painted sides bright against the blue. Small ripples loosen each reflection into trembling bands of gold and white. Beyond the wooden platform, a lone paddleboarder crosses the open water. The distant rock catches the light, while the nearest blue boat rests above its wavering double.
