About this piece
A close view of a cactus fills the frame with rounded green growths and radiating clusters of pale spines, punctuated by longer reddish-brown hooks. Bright light traces the needles against deep green shadows, turning the plant’s protective surface into a rhythmic, sculptural field.
The story
In the light of late August, the cactus holds a small constellation across its skin. White needles gather around golden centers, while darker hooks bend away from their straight lines. Between them, green hollows deepen into shade. The eye moves slowly across this guarded surface, finding softness in the tiny tufts from which the spines emerge.
