A pale wooden boardwalk curves into a dense bamboo grove, its narrowing planks drawing the eye between tall, closely spaced stems. Filtered sunlight picks out green and gold surfaces, while leaning bamboo interrupts the vertical rhythm and gives the sheltered passage a quiet complexity.

The story

Early December finds this passage enclosed in green. Light slips between the bamboo stems, touching their raised joints and the dry leaves gathered below. The boardwalk bends gently out of sight, offering only a little of the way ahead. Within this dense lattice, the pale planks give the eye room to rest.
