About this piece

Seen from below, bamboo stems rise inward from every edge, surrounding an irregular opening of blue sky and white cloud. Sunlight draws golden highlights along the jointed stems and illuminates the fine green foliage, balancing the composition’s converging lines with a sense of shelter.

The story

On this December day, the view opens upward into green and gold. Bamboo gathers around the edges, its narrow leaves breaking sunlight into countless small shapes. Beyond the crowded stems, white cloud fills part of the blue opening. The eye follows one slender line toward the light, then rests in the space between the leaves.
