A flamingo’s curved neck rises above layered coral feathers, its lowered head and pale eye sharply defined against a nearly black background. Bright light reveals the fine texture of the neck and luminous feather edges, while the tight crop balances the bird’s sculptural form with an expanse of darkness.
The story
In this December frame, the flamingo holds a brightness that seems independent of the calendar. Light catches the overlapping feathers, turning their edges almost white. The long neck bends inward, bringing the heavy bill close to the body while one pale eye remains visible. Beyond that slender curve, the surroundings fall away into shadow.
