A low sun hangs above a distant tree line, casting orange and gold across water glimpsed through dense foliage. A sweeping foreground trunk and branching leaves form an irregular frame, setting textured bark and deep greens against the luminous sky. The composition holds the open horizon within an intimate, sheltered space.

The story

In these first days of January, the year opens through a narrow clearing in the leaves. Rough bark curves upward, its shaded surface cool against the amber sky. Beyond the tangled branches, the sun rests just above the distant trees, and water gathers its color. The eye travels outward toward that small bright circle, then returns to the shelter of green.
