Seen from below, sculpted canyon walls surround an irregular ribbon of blue sky. Light turns the finely layered rock orange and gold, while recessed surfaces deepen into burgundy and violet. Sweeping curves and a narrow central fin lend the enclosed composition a monumental stillness.

The story

Early September light reaches the canyon’s upper folds, drawing a bright edge above the shade. Lines in the stone sweep overhead like fabric gathered into heavy pleats. Between them, the blue sky opens into a clear, untextured distance. The eye follows each curve upward, then rests in the space the rock leaves open.
