September in Gold

About this piece

Yellow flowers and tightly gathered buds stand on slender, finely haired stems against a warm amber ground. Sunlight illuminates the layered petals, while selective focus separates the foreground blooms from their softer companions. The ascending arrangement leaves generous space above the flowers, lending this close study an airy stillness.

The story

September light gathers along the yellow petals and catches the fine hairs of each stem. Some flower heads spread wide; others hold their color in small, upright bundles. Behind them, the surroundings dissolve into ochre and brown, with dry branching forms lingering at the edge. For a moment, the month's passage seems measured only by the distance between a closed bud and an open flower.
