Three Measures Of Gold

About this piece

Three yellow flowers rise at staggered heights against a softly blurred field of ochre and brown. Strong light reveals the layered petals and fine hairs along the stems, while selective focus lets the uppermost bloom soften into the background. The upright stems and open space to the right give this close botanical study a quiet, spacious rhythm.

The story

In early September, yellow petals hold the light against a world of deepening gold. The lowest flower opens toward us, its clustered center sheltered by overlapping petals. Above it, another bloom offers its narrow profile, while the highest recedes into softness. The eye moves between them slowly, following green stems through the warm blur.
