Gold Above Ochre

About this piece

Yellow, daisy-like flowers rise on slender stems above orange sand, interspersed with closed buds and sparse grasses. Bright sunlight illuminates the petals and fine stem hairs, while shallow focus softens the ground into an ochre field. The uneven heights and open spacing give the composition a delicate, unhurried rhythm.

The story

In early September, yellow petals open above the warm-colored sand. Light catches the fine hairs along each stem, drawing pale lines through the green. Round buds stand beside full blossoms, each holding a different measure of unfolding. At the lower edge, a solitary flower leans into the open space, its gold set against the earth.
