Where Color Remains

About this piece
Saturated murals spread across the boarded openings and weathered surfaces of a two-story building. Warm, directional sunlight intensifies the orange, pink, and turquoise paint, while rooflines and exterior railings draw the eye toward the right edge. Empty walkways and weeds along the pavement lend the vivid facade a still, unsettled atmosphere.
The story
September light settles across the boarded doors, turning rough wood a brilliant orange. Painted curves travel between columns and beneath the long rails, uninterrupted by the closed rooms behind them. Under the roof, shadows hold their depth while the exposed walls flare pink and blue. Small weeds rise along the pavement seam. Nothing moves through the walkways; color fills the silence.
