Where Light Waits

About this piece

Rust-red wooden doors fill a rounded arch of mottled red and dark stone, framed by white plaster and inset pebble panels. Strong sunlight sharpens the masonry textures and casts an irregular shadow across the right-hand door, interrupting the near-symmetry of the frontal composition. Reflections in the barred glass panes offer glimpses of surrounding architecture within an otherwise closed threshold.

The story

Late July light rests hard against the white wall, bringing every grain of stone into relief. Above the doors, a small anchor holds its place between two shaded wall lights. The glass gathers fragments of another arch and a little color, while the wood below remains opaque. A brass-colored handle catches the sun; the threshold stays quiet.
