A Threshold In Blue

About this piece
A vivid blue wooden gate sits within white stucco walls, its crossed braces and worn paint sharply defined against the softer church dome beyond. Bright daylight reveals the grain of the wood and the granular plaster, while sloping walls guide the eye upward toward the dome and pale sky. The repeated blue gives this enclosed architectural view a quiet visual continuity.
The story
Late July light settles across the white walls, revealing each small irregularity in the plaster. At the closed gate, chipped blue paint exposes thin traces of wood around the panels and braces. Through its openings, pale folds of fabric rest in the sheltered space beyond. Above the enclosure, the dome repeats the gate’s blue, carrying the eye from a weathered threshold into open sky.
