Beneath the Silent Bells

About this piece
A tiered white bell tower spans a narrow cobblestone lane, its six green-patinated bells suspended above a pointed passage arch. Strong sunlight reveals the worn plaster and rounded paving stones, while cobalt railings and window trim echo the blue sky. The vertical composition draws the eye from the shaded foreground through the arch toward sunlit buildings beyond.
The story
Late July light settles on the white walls, finding every rough edge in the plaster. Beneath the six bells, the lane narrows into shade before opening again to brightness. Blue paint traces a window and railing, its intensity held against the pale masonry. Overhead wires cross the ordered arches at an angle. The bells hang still, and the empty passage leaves room for the imagined sound of a single footstep.
