A Threshold Of Blue

About this piece

An elongated oval wooden door, fitted with dark metal hinges, punctuates white stucco beside a window reflecting foliage and architectural edges. The upward-looking composition gathers stepped profiles, a wooden handrail and overhanging leaves against a vivid blue sky. Strong sunlight and cool blue shadows lend this enclosed corner a quiet, sculptural presence.

The story

Late July light catches the upper walls while shade pools around the wooden door. Its grain offers a warm counterpoint to the pale stucco and dark ironwork. In the window, leaves and stepped edges form a second, inverted passage. The door stays closed; the eye follows the wall upward, toward green blades and a small opening of sky.
