November's Scarlet Beads

About this piece

Glossy red berries punctuate slender, diagonal stems against a saturated field of green and turquoise foliage. Shallow depth of field isolates a small cluster just left of center, while bright reflections on the fruit lend the shadowed composition a jewel-like intensity.

The story

Late November gathers into small points of scarlet. Along a slender stem, each glossy berry holds a bright fragment of light, while the leaves behind dissolve into cool green. The eye follows the branching lines outward, finding more red spheres suspended at the edge of focus. For a moment, the month's passage rests in this close, luminous tangle.
