Where Gold Unfolds

About this piece

White frangipani blossoms fill the frame, their yellow centers glowing in strong light that reveals the fine texture of each petal. The tight crop layers sweeping curves and pointed tips against a softly blurred background, giving the flowers a sculptural presence.

The story

Late November finds these blossoms open to the light. Yellow spreads from their centers into creamy white, while the overlapping petals hold narrow pockets of shadow. An unopened bud stands above them at the edge of the frame, its folds still gathered tightly together. Here, the year's passing takes the quiet form of one flower opening beside another.
