A Fold Of Gold

About this piece

A succulent rosette fills the frame, its thick, pointed leaves overlapping in a spiral around an off-center core. Warm sunlight reveals finely textured surfaces and casts deep shadows between the blue-gray leaves, lending the tightly cropped composition a sculptural stillness.

The story

Late November light gathers along the succulent’s edges, turning muted gray-green to gold. Each leaf holds a small plane of brightness before folding into shadow. Near the center, the forms grow smaller and closer, sheltering one another from view. Beyond this deliberate spiral, the surrounding greenery dissolves into soft color.
