The Blue Unfurling

About this piece

Broad, pale petals descend from a flower's intricate center, where blue-and-white curls rise above yellow surfaces marked with brown. Bright light reveals fine petal texture, while softly blurred green foliage isolates the bloom in a composition of sweeping curves and concentrated color.

The story

Late November finds a small concentration of color among the greens. Light spreads across the pale petals, catching their delicate grain before slipping into the curled blue folds. Yellow glows beneath the stripes and speckles at the center. Beyond the bloom, leaves dissolve into shadow, leaving this intricate unfolding to fill the frame.
