About this piece

A narrow shaft of sunlight descends through a slot canyon, illuminating suspended dust between deeply curved, striated rock walls. The vertical composition sets the pale beam against orange highlights and violet shadows, giving the enclosed space a sculptural depth and hushed intensity.

The story

September sunlight enters through a narrow opening and becomes a luminous column in the canyon air. Dust catches its brightness, softening the edges of the beam. Along the walls, fine bands of stone sweep through orange, rust, and purple, their curves gathering and releasing the light. Beyond this bright passage, the canyon floor recedes into shadow.
