A pink-and-white water lily opens above overlapping green pads, its yellow stamens illuminated by direct sunlight. Positioned right of center, the bloom balances a softly focused bud at lower left, while floating vegetation and dark glimpses of water lend texture and depth to the saturated scene.
The story
On this late-November day, sunlight gathers in the pale tips of a water lily. Pink deepens toward the base of each petal, and the yellow center stands bright above the pond. Nearby, a closed bud holds its color in a narrow seam. Droplets glint on the broad pads, while the water remains dark in the spaces between them.
