About this piece

A close view of cherries fills the frame with rounded forms, ranging from luminous crimson to nearly black burgundy. Broad highlights reveal the texture of their glossy skins, while slender green stems cut diagonally through the dense arrangement. Selective focus gives this abundant still life an intimate, tactile presence.

The story

Late June gathers into a mass of red fruit, each cherry holding a small reflection of light. Green stems bend and cross, threading the dark spaces between the skins. The eye lingers on a tiny mark, a dry stem tip, a curve bright enough to suggest sweetness. Beyond the plane of focus, the fruit softens into colour, and the season feels briefly held in place.
