An August Interlude

About this piece
A seated accordionist occupies the left side of a leafy roadside scene, balanced by two parked bicycles on the right and an open instrument case below. Dappled sunlight picks out his hands, the red accordion, and scattered patches of pavement against deep green shade. The broad horizontal composition gives this small performance a quiet, unhurried presence.
The story
August light filters through the foliage and settles in small pools along the curb. Beneath a woven hat, the musician lowers his gaze toward the accordion, its bellows spread across his lap. Two bicycles stand nearby, their wire baskets catching the light. A few banknotes rest in the open case, while the shaded stretch of pavement leaves room for someone to stop and listen.
