About this piece

A small wooden cabin with a pale metal roof stands in a grassy clearing, framed by palms and immense, fern-covered branches. Bright daylight illuminates the lawn and roof, while the overhead canopy gathers into layered shade. An empty bench in the right foreground balances the cabin, giving the scene a quiet sense of welcome.

The story

August light spreads across the clearing and catches the pale slope of the cabin roof. Above it, heavy branches reach through a tapestry of leaves, ferns, and hanging moss. The bench waits at the edge of the shade, its broad wooden back echoing the weathered boards across the grass. Between these two modest structures, the open lawn leaves room for an unhurried pause.
