Beneath the Radiant Crown

About this piece
Seen from below, a coconut palm rises diagonally into a crown of radiating fronds and clustered fruit. Warm sunlight draws out the trunk’s closely ridged texture and illuminates green, gold, and rust-colored foliage against a vivid blue sky. The converging lines give this botanical study both structural force and an expansive calm.
The story
On this February day, light gathers along the palm’s ribs and turns the leaf edges gold. The eye follows the rough trunk upward to coconuts nestled beneath the crown. Green blades cross the blue in fine, repeated lines, while dry brown fronds curl between them. Beneath this canopy, the sky arrives in narrow openings.
