Viewed from beneath a concrete pier, repeated supports form a narrowing passage across turquoise water. The structure’s gray surfaces catch slivers of warm light, while the low sun spreads orange and pink reflections across the waves.
The story
I framed the view beneath the pier so that each pair of pillars led toward the small opening at its far end. Beyond that measured rhythm, the water kept breaking into different shapes. The sun sat near the horizon to my right, catching the concrete edges and laying warm color across the sea. I wanted to hold both things together: the weight of the structure and the restless light around it.
