Rounded stones fill the foreground, their wet surfaces catching cool light beneath a veil of moving surf. Mike Gedj contrasts the pebbles’ sharply defined textures with the softened water, tracing the shifting boundary between shore and sea.
The story
I framed the shoreline without a horizon, letting the stones carry the weight of the scene. Each wet surface held a small reflection, while the water drew pale lines through the gaps. I was drawn to the larger rock beyond them, still visible where the smaller pebbles began to disappear. In this close view, the sea became less a vast distance than a quiet movement, changing the edges of everything it touched.
