A low, curved palm draws the eye from textured sand and dark shoreline rocks toward the sun at the ocean horizon. Swept fronds cross a sky of blue and gold, their intricate lines contrasting with the broad horizontal bands of sea and distant land.
The story
I framed the shore around the palm’s long bend, letting its trunk lead from the sand toward the last light. Beyond the rocks, small waves carried narrow bands of gold toward the beach. What held my attention was the contrast of directions: the fronds swept sideways, the trunk turned upward, and the horizon remained level. For a moment, the whole scene seemed to lean toward the sun without disturbing the sea.
