Sculptural driftwood anchors the foreground of this coastal photograph, its weathered curves casting sharp shadows across pale sand. A diagonal wash of shallow water leads toward turquoise sea and a low, cloud-lined horizon, balancing the wood’s textured surface with broad expanses of color.
The story
I framed the shore around the driftwood, drawn to the way its bends echoed the water’s edge. Beyond it, the sea opened into bands of turquoise, interrupted by dark rocks and small lines of surf. The wood gave my eye somewhere to rest before moving toward the horizon. In that meeting of worn grain, fine sand, and clear water, I found a quiet structure for the photograph.
