A slender, open-frame lighthouse anchors a tropical waterfront beneath clouds of violet, rose, and peach. Its bright lantern and elongated golden reflection form a vertical axis, balancing the clustered palms, docked boats, and low stone breakwater.
The story
I framed the lighthouse with enough water beneath it to let its reflection become part of the structure. Above the palms, the lantern held a small, concentrated warmth; below them, that warmth loosened into ripples. Boats and dock posts gathered along the shore, giving the scene its everyday scale. What drew me was the contrast between the tower’s precise metal lines and the way the water refused to keep any edge still.
