Bright light catches their wet surfaces, while dark water holds reflections of sky and a railing. Large leaves cropped along the foreground give way to smaller floating forms, creating depth within a densely patterned, luminous composition.

The story

July light gathers on the floating leaves, catching droplets along their scalloped edges. Gold markings spread across burgundy surfaces like branching waterways. At the right, a violet bloom opens around a bright yellow center, held just above the pond. Beneath it, reflected bars bend across the water, and slender stems disappear into the dark. The day rests here in small intervals of brilliance and shade.
