Arcs of Gold

About this piece

A golden grass plume curves above a softer pink seed head, its fine bristles illuminated against a blurred green setting. Selective focus separates the upper arc from the surrounding foliage, drawing attention to its delicate texture and the intersecting lines of stems and leaves.

The story

I was drawn to the way one golden plume reached across the green, its curve echoed by the pink grass beneath it. Moving closer, I let the surroundings soften until the fine bristles became the clearest part of the frame. The slender leaves still crossed at the edges, keeping something of the plant’s unruly shape. I wanted to hold that balance between a clean, luminous arc and the tangle that supported it.
