Filaments Of Gold

About this piece

Fan-shaped grass seed heads rise through a luminous field of gold, orange, green, and cyan. Bright light catches their fine bristles, while shallow focus isolates the upper-left cluster against softer, overlapping forms. The vertical stems and generous space above lend this vivid botanical study an airy stillness.

The story

In late November, the grasses hold their small reserves of gold. Light traces the fine hairs around each seed, making their edges shine against the blue. One branching head stands clear while those around it soften into amber and yellow. The eye follows a green stem upward and rests among its delicate points.
