A Measure Of Gold

About this piece

Yellow flowers and closed buds rise on slender stems, their fine hairs edged with light. Sharp petals and crossing green lines stand against broad, blurred fields of orange and deep shadow, giving the composition a luminous, suspended calm.

The story

In early September, light gathers along the rims of yellow petals and the fine hairs of each stem. Some flower heads open toward the brightness; others remain small, tightly gathered shapes. A tiny winged visitor hangs beside an upper bloom, a flicker of amber against the dark. Behind this delicate assembly, orange dissolves into shadow, leaving each stem its own quiet space.
