Violet Above Silver

About this piece
A water lily holds its violet petals above a pond rendered otherwise in black and white. Positioned right of center, the luminous flower balances the broad, textured pad at left, while curved reflections and scattered bubbles animate the water. Selective color gives the bloom a quiet intensity against its silvery surroundings.
The story
On this November day, a single bloom holds the frame's color. Light gathers along the pale petals and the white tips of its upright stamens. Around it, the pond becomes a shifting field of silver, charcoal, and rounded reflections. The eye wanders across the broad leaves, then returns to the violet flower above the water.
