A luminous sky of gold, coral, and lavender spans the sea above a long, lamp-lined pier. The structure’s repeated supports contrast with the softened movement of the surf, while scattered seaweed gives the pale foreground sand a delicate texture.
The story
I framed the pier as a steady line against the shifting color of the water. Along the shore, small pieces of seaweed marked the sand while the surf softened everything it touched. My eye kept returning to the contrast: the measured spacing of the supports, the unmeasured movement beneath them. I wanted the photograph to hold both—the certainty of something built and the quiet restlessness of the sea.
