About this piece

A weathered log cabin rests beneath a broad canopy of orange foliage, with a massive tree trunk anchoring the right side of the frame. Bright sunlight draws out the pale timber and textured bark, while a curving paved path leads across the green lawn toward the building. The vivid autumn colors surround a quiet center of simple architectural forms.

The story

Early November holds its color overhead, where orange leaves interrupt the blue of the sky. Below, sunlight settles on the cabin’s silvered walls and the grass around its foundation. The path bends toward the closed door, passing beneath branches that reach across nearly the whole scene. Behind the roof, bare limbs already reveal the spare outlines of the coming season.
