About this piece

Forested mountain slopes overlap in a broad panorama, their orange and rust foliage interspersed with bare branches and dark evergreens. Bright light warms the nearer hills while atmospheric haze softens successive ridges into pale blue, giving the landscape a spacious, contemplative stillness.

The story

November begins with color still scattered across the slopes. Orange crowns catch the light among the fine gray lines of exposed branches, while evergreens hold their deeper shade. Beyond the nearest valley, each ridge grows softer and bluer until the mountains nearly merge with the sky. The eye travels outward, leaving the intricate woodland for the quiet of distance.
