The story

On this last day of October, orange leaves linger among a fine lattice of bare branches. The stream slips over broad stone ledges, its white curtains gathering into ripples below. Behind the falls, the mill holds its dark wooden shape against the thinning woodland. Evergreen boughs reach across the view, keeping their color as the season loosens its hold.
