Where October Flows

About this piece
A weathered wooden mill rises above a rocky stream, its broad waterwheel framed by a timber bridge and a layered rock face. Soft daylight reveals the grain of the siding and the saturated orange of autumn foliage, while flowing water forms pale ribbons around the foreground boulders. The composition balances the mill’s upright geometry with the stream’s restless movement.
The story
On this last day of October, leaves gather in the crevices between stones. The stream slips around the boulders and whitens over their edges, carrying movement through a landscape of timber and rock. Above it, the mill’s dark boards hold a warm brown against the pale sky. Bare branches reveal how much of autumn has already fallen; a few orange leaves still brighten the canopy.
