Orange rust spreads across the rounded roof of a weathered bus, meeting remnants of turquoise and yellow paint beneath rows of broken windows. Framed by palms and coastal vegetation, its corroded body contrasts with the clear blue water and sky beyond.

The story

I framed the bus between the palms, drawn to the way its turquoise paint echoed the water behind it. Rust had opened holes in the roof, and the broken windows interrupted the long rhythm of its side. In this bright coastal light, even the damage carried color. I wanted the photograph to hold that contrast: a vehicle going nowhere, surrounded by leaves, sunlight, and the open suggestion of distance.
