The story

December finds this coastal slope still green, its great tree lifting a dense crown into the blue. Light gathers in a narrow golden band above the water, beneath the darker weight of clouds. Beside the trunk, the rough stone wall follows the rise of the ground toward slender palms. The eye travels out across the ocean, then returns to the shelter of the branches.
