About this piece
A gray, twin-tail fighter jet spans the blue sky, its nose angled slightly upward and its underside exposed. Light catches the canopy and upper edges, while pale vapor softens the angular wings. The open space ahead of the aircraft balances its dense mechanical form, holding movement in a moment of visual stillness.
The story
On this second day of January, the sky offers an open field of blue. A small amber glint rests on the canopy as the aircraft points into the empty space ahead. Around the wings, white vapor gathers and thins, giving the air a briefly visible texture. The new year finds its quiet counterpoint here: a machine in motion, held for an instant against an unbroken sky.
