About this piece

A violet twilight sky stretches above Miami’s waterfront, where illuminated towers cast long bands of green, gold, and magenta across the bay. The panoramic composition balances the dense skyline with open water, while the rocky shoreline anchors its right edge.

The story

I framed the city from the rocky edge of the bay, keeping the shoreline in view as a counterweight to the towers. Across the water, each illuminated building seemed to offer a different color, and the small ripples carried those colors toward me. What held my attention was the space between the two shores: a broad, shifting surface where the skyline lost its hard edges and became something softer.
