About this piece

A solitary leafless tree rises from the textured shoreline, its pale, twisting trunk set against an expansive blue sky. To the left, a steel bridge recedes across the water, its repeated supports contrasting with the irregular branches and reflective foreground pools.

The story

I framed the tree to one side, leaving room for the blue that seemed to stretch through everything: sky, sea, and the shallow pools at my feet. Across the water, the bridge drew a measured line toward the horizon. My eye kept returning to the trunk, to its pale bends and exposed roots. Between that irregular shape and the distant geometry, I found a quiet balance worth staying with.
