A tightly framed palm leaf fills the photograph with luminous green folds and dark, radiating ribs. Light passing through its surface reveals a fine mesh of texture, bringing botanical detail close to abstraction.
The story
I moved close enough for the leaf to fill my view, leaving the wider world outside the frame. Light passed through the green surface unevenly, gathering in bright patches between the darker ribs. I followed those lines with my eye, noticing how each fold held a slightly different shade. What drew me was the balance between repetition and irregularity: the steady fan of veins, the small tears, the soft shadows interrupting the green.
