A solitary boat rests to the right of the frame, its dark reflection broken by fine horizontal ripples. Slender mooring posts punctuate the broad expanse of golden water, while a low band of clouds marks the distant horizon.
The story
I framed the boat to one side, leaving room for the golden water and the quiet intervals between the posts. Each ripple loosened the reflection, briefly stretching the hull before letting it settle again. There was little to follow except these small changes. I wanted to hold that balance in the photograph: a boat tethered in place, surrounded by light that nothing could keep still.
