Three rowboats and a distant sailboat punctuate a broad expanse of pale water, their reflections extending beneath them in delicate vertical lines. Blue hulls, ochre moorings, and a softened horizon give this panoramic photograph its measured rhythm and restrained color.
The story
I framed the boats with room around them, drawn as much to the spaces between their hulls as to the boats themselves. The blue of the nearest boat gave my eye somewhere to settle before wandering toward the slender mast farther out. Across the water, reflections stretched into faint lines. I wanted to keep that balance: the small, practical details of ropes and posts against a horizon that almost disappeared.
