Scarlet bodywork and paired banks of black vents fill this tightly cropped view of a sports car’s rear deck. Direct sunlight catches the curved edges and fine surface texture, while the rear window introduces a broad band of cooler reflection. The nearly symmetrical composition holds an object associated with speed in studied stillness.

The story

On this November day, sunlight gathers along the red edges of the vents. Their dark slats repeat on either side of a broad central panel, each opening a narrow pocket of shade. The glass carries a cooler light, a blue-gray pause within the saturated bodywork. Nothing in the frame moves; the eye follows the machine’s contours instead.
